Mountain Speedway Crowns 2011 Division Champions
(11/12/2011)- Under the twelfth season of operation with Hazleton’s Joe Callavini at the helm, Mountain Speedway held its annual awards banquet Saturday evening at Genetti’s Inn & Suites in Hazleton, PA.
   With five top five finishes along with eight tens in twelve starts, Jeff McGrath finished sixth overall in the Street Stock points standings and his son Jake finished seventh overall in the 4-cylinder Enduro division. Along with his points trophy, McGrath was also named the Most Improved Driver in the Street Stock division.
Hundreds filled the banquet hall, including crew and friends and family members of racers that competed at the 1/3-mile asphalt oval in St. Johns, PA during the 2011 racing season.  Along with the presentation of special awards, the end of the year celebration was held to recognize the top points finishers each of the track’s divisions.
   Speedway Announcers Gene Ostrowski and Larry Spencer III were the emcees for the ceremony and spoke about the competitive 2011 season. They continued by thanking the drivers, families and crewmembers for not only supporting the speedway, but also for supporting short track racing in general.

McGrath Ties Career Best with Largest Field of His Career
(10/9/2011)- In conjunction with Day two of the 12th annual “King of the Mountain” (KoTM) event at Mountain Speedway, a slew of race cars and fans headed to the track on Sunday to not only see who will claim the $5,000 Modified prize, but also to see who the 2011 track champions would be in the final points event of the season. When it was all said and done, Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA rebounded from a spin earlier to claim the big money and his first KoTM victory since 2001. Nicknamed “The Rocket”, Ricky Ross, Jr. of Mountaintop, PA started eleventh and then rocketed to the $1,000 Street Stock victory and Pete Verwys of Stroudsburg, PA stormed to his fourth straight FWD feature win.
  Jeff McGrath led twenty other hungry Street Stock drivers to the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap feature before the yellow flag waved when Daryn Miller slowed on the initial green. Dale Santee got clipped and headed head on into the front stretch guiderail and somehow hit the pits and was able to continue. Read More 
 
Jeff McGrath Storms From 19th to 6th, Then Suffers Hard Wreck
(9/25, 2011)- Sam Danaher started from the pole position in the 25-lap Street Stock feature and was quickly overtaken by Chris Burge for the lead. Alan Schlenker climbed to second, with Daryn Miller in tow.
  Chip Wanamaker cracked the top five when he got by Danaher on lap one and Miller moved by Schlenker to take the second spot a lap later.
  Steve Clark battled his way into the top five, but was forced to restart from the rear of the field following some contact with Miller in turns one and two on lap seven. Green flag racing resumed with Burge leading over Schlenker, Wanamaker, Josh Mooney and Steve Shultz. Read More 
 
 
McGrath Leads Many Laps in Mark Corbisiero Street Stock Memorial
(September 11, 2011)- Following a short tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks ten years ago, the drivers at Mountain Speedway took to the 1/3-mile oval for door-to-door action on Sunday. With $777 and double points on the line in the annual Mark Corbisiero Street Stock Memorial, Steve Shultz of Drums, PA grabbed the race lead when the leaders tangled with six laps remaining. He held on to take the win, which was his second victory in the memorial event.
  Chris Burge led a full field of cars to the drop of the green flag in the $777 to win, 77-lap Mark Corbisiero Street Stock Memorial. The race is held annually in honor of Corbisiero, who passed away in 2003 after losing his battle with cancer. Along with Cook’s Corner Restaurant, Aamco Transmissions of Stroudsburg and Mike Odwazny sponsored the event.
  With the green flag out, Burge led the opening lap over Jeff McGrath, Kyle Curtis, Dale Santee and Bernie Uphold and then the lead changed when McGrath got by Burge on lap one. Read More 
 
McGrath Wins Heat and Earns Top 5 Feature finish
(8/27/2011)- Sam Grow led the Street Stock field to the drop of the green flag in the 25-lap feature before Jeff McGrath overtook him for the lead.
  McGrath led the opening circuit over Mike Garris, Sr., Grow, Bernie Uphold and Chris Burge.
  Burge got by Uphold and moved into the fourth position on the second lap and then he and Justin Mooney overtook Grow for third and fourth respectively on lap three. Read More

Jake McGrath Earns 14th Place Finish at Mountain Speedway
(August 21, 2011)- Alex Doyle led his fellow 4-Cylinder competitors to the drop of the green in the 100-lap enduro Sunday at Mountain Speedway. Doyle quickly lost the lead to Robert Fink on the initial start. Fink led the opening lap over Larry Spencer III, Sam Ryan, Joe Heintzelman and Mike Harding.
 Ryan overtook Spencer for second on the second lap and then pressured Fink for the top spot. Ryan finally made a bid for the lead on lap 22 and he became the new race leader. Read More 
 
McGrath Earns Great Top 10 Finish at Mountain Speedway
(August 13, 2011)-Despite passing showers late in the afternoon, track workers and plenty of racers took to the track Saturday night at Mountain Speedway in an effort to dry the racing surface. The work was successful and the racing went off without a hitch. Kyle Ebersole of Hummelstown, PA drove to the front and then cruised to his second straight Modified victory. Steve Shultz of Drums notched his fourth Street Stock feature win of the season and Cody Roth of Kunkletown, PA steered clear of trouble to score his second FWD main event win of the year.

McGrath Wins Heat Race, Then Gets Wrecked When Leading Feature
(July 30, 2011)- Sam Grow started from the pole in the 25-lap Street Stock feature Saturday night at Mountain Speedway, but was scored second to Jeff McGrath when they crossed the stripe to complete lap one. Mike Garris, Sr. held third, followed by Bernie uphold and Chris Burge.
  Garris overtook Grow for the second spot on lap three and tried to reel in McGrath and then Burge took the spot from Garris. Meanwhile, Steve Shultz, Chip Wanamaker and Justin Mooney cracked the top five. Read More 
 
 
 
Jeff McGrath Earns Solid Finish with Broken Racecar
(July 16, 2011)- Despite having to run the entire 40-lap Street Stock feature in third gear Saturday night at Mountain Speedway, Jeff McGrath logged laps en route to a respectable 11th place finish. Double points were on the line for the Summer Racefest event and despite the mechanical problems, the finish was the first non-top 10 so far this season. Read More 
 
McGrath Encounters Problems and Still Nets a To 10 Finish
(July 2, 2011)- Mitch Hawk started from the pole and led Mike Garris, Sr., Steve Shultz, Sam Danaher and Chip Wanamaker across the stripe to complete the first circuit of the 25-lap Street Stock feature before the yellow flag waved when Sam Grow spun in turn two. 
Green flag racing resumed and Brian Wozniak overtook Danaher for the fifth spot. Meanwhile, Shultz and Wanamaker battled with Garris for second and the both got by to take second and third respectively on lap three. Read More 
 
Jeff McGrath Earns Third Straight Top 5 at Mountain Speedway
(June 18, 2011)- Mitch Hawk led the Street Stock field to the initial green flag in the 25-lap feature and led the first circuit over Dale Santee, Chris Burge, Bernie Uphold and Kyle Curtis.
  Following a quick lap two yellow, Chip Wanamaker moved into the fifth position. Steve Shultz followed through for sixth. With Hawk still leading the duo worked through traffic and Wanamaker climbed to third. Shorty after, Shultz overtook Burge for fourth on lap seven. Read More 
 
 
 
 
With Another Great Outing, McGrath Ties Career Best
(June 4, 2011)- From the pole position, Brian Brown led his fellow Street Stock competitors to the drop of the green flag in the 25-lap feature. He led the opening circuit over Dale Santee, Sam Grow, Robert Fink and Bernie Uphold.
  A tangle involving Steve Shultz and Sam Danaher in turn two brought out the first of several caution flags.
  Green flag racing resumed and following the restart, Santee took the race lead. Meanwhile, Fink moved into third with Chris Burge and Chip Wanamaker in pursuit.

McGrath wins Heat Race and Finishes Feature With Career Best
 (May 22, 2011)- Even with a quick rain delay during the Modified main event, Earl Paules of Palmerton, PA held off Rusty Smith of Oxford, NY to claim his first win of the season at Mountain Speedway on Sunday. For the second straight time this season, Steve Shultz of Drums, PA went on to claim victory in the Street Stock division and Harry O’Neill of Mountaintop, PA scored his second career FWD victory in only his second start of the season. Kevin Nowak of Long Island, NY drove to a division leading third INEX Legends victory of the year and Bruce Carman of Shaftsbury, VT drove to the Atlantic Coast Old Timers win in his 1948 Midget racecar.

McGrath Gets Wrecked and Rebounds to Finish Career Best
 (5/8/2011)- On Checkered Flag Fan Club day and in a Mother’s Day classic, Brian DeFebo of Berwick took the checkered flag to post his first Modified victory at Mountain Speedway since 2008. Steve Shultz of Drums took the early Street Stock lead from Jeff McGrath and never looked back to clinch his first victory of the season and Eric Banashefski of Ashley claimed his first FWD win of the year. Kevin Nowak of Long Island notched his second INEX Legends win of the season.

Oil Pump Sidelines Jeff McGrath on Opening day
(4/30/11)- Following time trials two weeks ago, racers and fans alike came to Mountain Speedway on Saturday to enjoy some decent weather and finally, racing! When it was all said and done, Bobby Jones of Palmerton went on to take his first ever opening day win in his Modified. Chip Wannamaker of Walnutport cruised to take the Street Stock victory and Harry O’Neill of Mountaintop notched his first career FWD victory.
   Despite have a very quick and totally redone car for 2011, bad luck bit Jeff McGrath, who was unable to start the day’s events because of oil Pump issues. McGrath was happy with the warning of low oil pressure however, and said, “A big THANKS to Cody Roth for putting in that low oil pressure light, otherwise I would have never seen it”.
 
Jake McGrath Earns Solid Seventh Place Finish in Racing Debut
  (4/17/2011)- Originally scheduled for Saturday and rescheduled for the following day after being washed out, several drivers took part in time trials at Mountain Speedway. When it was all said and done, Kyle Ebersole ran the fastest Modified lap, which he’s grown accustomed too. After all, this is the third consecutive season that he has accomplished that feat. Chip Wanamaker timed quickest in the Street Stocks, which he is also used to. Wanamaker time trialed quickest last season as well. Eric Banashefski ran a torrid FWD lap and won his first Opening Day Pole Award. Kevin Nowak of Long Island fought off his fellow INEX Legends competitors to score his first victory of the season and Sam Ryan of White Haven stomped the 4-cylinder enduro field en route to victory. (2/25/2011)- Keep up to date with McGrath Motorsports as 15-year old Jake McGrath will be making his racing debut in the enduros this season! Jake's father, Jeff, will continue to compete in the Street Stock division, as he has joined forced with "In One Racing". Both McGrath's are looking forward to what is expected to be their most successful season to date at Mountain Speedway. (10/10/2010)- Looking to win his first track championship, Joe Barbush led the pack of Street Stock drivers to the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap $1000 to win King of the Mountain show. Barbush however didn’t have it easy by any means, as he had to be sure that he didn’t finish more than three positions behind the second place driver in the standings, Scott Meckes.
The green flag dropped and Chris Turbush led the first lap. Barbush regained the race lead a lap later before Scott Meckes climbed to the lead following a lap seven restart.  Read More
 
McGrath Sidelined with Torn Up Ride in Brad Kline Memorial
 (10/3/2010)- With a good running fast race car Jeff McGrath and his team headed to Sundance Vacations Speedway on Sunday with high hopes. However, those hopes cam to a smashing end when a fellow competitor dumped Jeff into the outside retaining wall during the qualifying race. Thankfully Jeff wasn’t injured, but the damage on his car was a different story. Due to the extensive damage, McGrath was done for the evening and may even miss the season-ending “King of the Mountain” event at the track.  Read More
 
McGrath Sidelined with Mechanical Woes After Best Run of the Season
 (9/12/2010)- Following a belt coming off his racecar in both practice and in the heat race at Sundance Vacations Speedway on Sunday, Jeff McGrath was forced to run the consi. Making a three-wide move stick, McGrath sat in the sixth spot and worked on fifth, which was the final transfer spot into the 77-lap main event. Unfortunately, the same belt that plagued the team all day jumped off its pulley and without taking the risk of damaging the engine, McGrath pulled to the infield.  Read More
 
McGrath Leads First Laps of Season Before car Fades
(8/28/10)- In what most would call the closest modified racing of the season at Sundance Vacations Speedway, the Jersey Outlaw, “Pistol” Pete Brittain held off Bobby Jones and company to score the $1800 cone race win Saturday on the 1/3-mile oval. In hard charger form, Steve Shultz of Drums came from the 13th starting spot to notch his third Street Stock feature win of the season and Mike Kline of Lancaster claimed his fourth FWD main event victory of the year. Coplay’s Scott Hubler continued his winning ways and grabbed his seventh P.A.L. Legends victory of the season.  Read More
 
Despite Improvements, Trouble Strikes McGrath Again
(8/14/10)- Showcased by the popular annual Autograph and Camera night, fans flocked out to witness great side-by-side racing at Sundance vacations Speedway on Saturday. Earl Paules of Palmerton overtook Kyle Ebersole with two laps remaining to take the checkered flag in the Modified feature. In what most would call a dramatic finish, Joe Barbush of Drums led the final 50 yards of the Street Stock feature to take the win and Dave Freundt of Lehighton took the checkers in the FWD main.
 Brian Wozniak led the Street Stock field to the drop of the green flag in the 25-lap main event. He led the opening circuits and then the yellow flag waved on lap seven when John Stonier spun.  Read More
